Chinese mobile gaming company Kunlun Group has announced plans for an initial public offering (IPO) for the popular gay dating app Grindr, reports BBC News.
The Chinese company acquired Grindr back in 2017 and will offer up shares overseas pending approval from Kunlun’s shareholder board.
The board has said their decision will “strengthen” the app’s ability to compete in a crowded marketplace, and allow them to further promote the Grindr brand. So far, there has been no timeline made available for when the IPO listing will roll out.
Grindr is the largest gay dating app in the world, averaging around 3 million users a day. Currently they are headquartered in Los Angeles.
