House of the Dragon spoilers: Trans actress Abigail Thorn introduced in season two finale

Abigail Thorn has officially become part of the Game of Thrones universe.
According to ‘Them’, the trans writer and actor’s character was finally unveiled in the season two finale of HBO’s prequel series House of the Dragon. Thorn portrays Admiral Sharako Lohar, the formidable commander of the Triarchy, an alliance of three “free cities” in Westeros.
Up until now, the Triarchy has remained neutral in the bloody, dragon-filled Targaryen family civil war that the show centres on. Thus, one faction, known as “Team Green,” has dispatched Tyland Lannister (Jefferson Hall) to secure the group’s extensive fleet of warships for their side. However, the Triarchy refuses to set sail unless Tyland earns Admiral Lohar’s approval. She informs him that she would never sail with someone unable to best her in battle.
The scene shifts to the two of them battling it out in a mud wrestling match, a spectacle that should honestly become a staple in more HBO prestige dramas. After Tyland proves himself to Lohar and endures some light ribbing about eating the flesh of her enemies, she agrees to commit the Triarchy's allegiance to Team Green. Additionally, she reveals her desire to have children with him—meaning she wants him to sleep with her numerous wives. A sapphic, seafaring Thrones standout? Welcome back, Yara Greyjoy!
Although viewers don’t actually see Tyland hooking up with Lohar’s wives, we do glimpse Lohar sailing to battle beside him the following morning, hinting at her character’s significant role in season three.
Thorn took to X on Saturday to tease her character’s debut, writing, “Catch me as Sharako Lohar in the season finale of #HouseOfTheDragon tomorrow! She’s such an amazing character, I love her: she’s got brawn, she’s got brains, and she’s having a blast!”
While best known for her popular YouTube channel Philosophy Tube, Thorn has also taken on numerous high-profile acting roles in recent years. Alongside House of the Dragon, she recently portrayed Ensign Eurus in the Disney+ series The Acolyte, marking the first appearance of an out trans actor in a Star Wars project. Last year, Thorn wrote and starred in the Nebula original film The Prince and played Nocturne in the acclaimed fantasy game Baldur’s Gate 3.

Thorn’s introduction comes as House of the Dragon gains attention for its strides in queer representation. A few episodes earlier, series lead Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) shared a kiss with her confidante Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno), seemingly confirming some of the show’s queer subtext. Even better, in a TV Insider interview, Mizuno revealed that she and D’Arcy influenced that unscripted moment themselves.
When asked if more romance was to come, Mizuno replied, “You bloody well hope so. I hope so. For the sake of the gays, I hope so.”
