Illinois Governor Parodies Gay Marriage in Odd Campaign Ad

October 25, 2018

Bruce Rauner, the Republican Governor of Illinois, has released a bizarre campaign ad in which he ridicules equal marriage, reports the Journal Star.

Released on Monday the video depicts two men standing before a judge preparing to be married, the men are actors playing Rauner’sDemocratic rival J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois House of Representatives speaker Michael Madigan.

“Repeat after me. I, Mike Madigan, take you, J.B. Pritzker, as my unlawful partner in destruction, to raise property taxes, corrupt government, and bankrupt Illinois’ future,” says the judge.

“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce Illinois f****d.”

“Mike Madigan and J.B. Pritzker—an unholy union Illinois can’t afford,”says Rauner in a voiceover at the end.

Pritzker responded by telling ABC: “Look, Bruce Rauner is desperate with fourteen days left in the campaign, he’s willing to say anything, do anything to try to win re-election.”
