Megan, a Chinese American member of the international girl group KATSEYE under HYBE, has publicly announced she is bisexual, becoming the second member of the group to do so.
During a livestream on Friday, Megan declared, “I want to come out. I’m bisexual,” addressing previous online speculation about her sexuality. This marks the first time she has openly confirmed her identity, according to ‘Korean Times’.
Fans expressed their support and joy in response, posting comments like “Truly global,” “Megan came out too,” and “Congratulations.”
Earlier in March, her Indian American bandmate Lara also revealed she is bisexual through the fan platform Weverse. With both Megan and Lara openly identifying as bisexual, KATSEYE has become the first currently active K-pop girl group to have two openly queer members.
KATSEYE was formed through the survival audition show ‘The Debut: Dream Academy’ and officially debuted under HYBE and Universal Music in June 2024. The group consists of six members: Lara, Manon, Sophia, Daniela, Megan, and Yoonchae, with members representing diverse heritages, including Korean, Filipino, and Swiss.
KATSEYE is preparing to drop their second EP, ‘Beautiful Chaos,’ on June 27. They are also slated to perform at the renowned U.S.A. music festival Lollapalooza, which takes place from July 31 to August 3, at Grant Park in Chicago.
