Imerys: Inspiring the next generation at Tywardreath School

July 15, 2025

Imerys and Imerys British Lithium Limited were delighted to be invited to Tywardreath School for their very first Year 6 Careers Day.

It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce students to the world of minerals and materials, and the wide range of careers available in engineering, geology, science, and technical fields.

Our team came prepared with interactive activities and engaging discussions to help students understand how essential minerals are in everyday life. The enthusiasm and curiosity of the students were incredibly impressive—they were polite, asked thoughtful questions, and left with a greater understanding of our industry.

A big thank you to my colleagues Tory Michell & Ameila Pashley-Wilkins (from S&T function) , Chris Parnell (Engineering services function), Liam Wareham and Timothy Campbell (Geologists) for supporting this event with me—it was a pleasure to be part of such a rewarding day.

We were also touched to receive this kind feedback from Liz McCormick Assistant Headteacher:
“Thank you for your time yesterday and the amazing array of things you and your colleagues brought in to share with the children. They had a fantastic time speaking to you all. We have made a thank-you card and will send this across to you.”

Events like this are not only enjoyable but vital—they help us connect with young learners at the beginning of their educational journeys, opening their eyes to new possibilities and inspiring their future aspirations.
