Inspiring the Future of Science, Geology & Engineering! 

Today, I had the privilege of attending, for the third year running, fantastic Careers Day at BISCOVEY ACADEMY , where Year 3 to 6 students got an exciting and hands-on introduction to the world of science, geology, engineering, and the minerals industry. It was great to see Biscovey invited TREGOLLS SCHOOL, AN ACADEMY , whose students joined in on this careers day.

As part of British Science Week, we engaged with these bright young minds through interactive workshops, giving them insights into the critical role that minerals and metals play in our future. Students learned about the fascinating world of geology, exploring different types of rocks and understanding how clay is formed and extracted. They also delved into the practical side of engineering, creating electrical circuits and learning how these skills are essential in various industries.

One of the highlights was the surveying workshop where Year 6 students got to step into the virtual world of Minecraft to make decisions on where to mine for gold at Gunheath Pit. They also had the incredible opportunity to try their hand at flying a drone through a simulator – a thrilling experience for all!

This day was not just about learning – it was about inspiring the next generation to consider careers in the minerals industry, science, and engineering. The students left the workshops with excitement and enthusiasm, sharing that it was the "best day at school" they’ve had so far.

It was a truly rewarding experience to see how engaging young people in these industries can spark their curiosity and passion for the future of critical minerals and technologies. 🌍💡
