Italian Mob Accepts Gay Members As Long As They Don’t “Parade It In Public”

A prosecutor in Italy has revealed that the mafia is open to gay members and already has a drag queen in their midst.

“The mafia have evolved along with society,” Nicola Gratteri, an anti-mafia investigator in Calabria said according to ‘New York Post’. “Gays can be accepted now, even as foot soldiers, so long as they don’t parade it in public.”

Previously, there was a high risk of being murdered if you were gay and part of the mafia. Homosexuality is still taboo among older bosses.

“It undermines their image of themselves as tough, virile guys,” Gratteri said of the previously homophobic underworld.
