Jair Bolsonaro Uses Homophobic Slur to describe Masks Before Catching Coronavirus

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, nicknamed “The Trump of the Tropics”, reportedly told staff and visitors to his office that “wearing masks is a f**got thing”. Within three days he tested positive for COVID-19.

After announcing that he had tested positive for the coronavirus Bolsonaro touted the drug hydroxychloroquine as a cure although it has not been proved to be effective against the virus and has dangerous side effects.

“I’m doing much better than I was. It’s working,” he said during a video posted on social media from quarantine. “I’m one more person it’s working on. I trust hydroxychloroquine.”

Because Bolsonaro has refused to follow procedures to curb the spread of the virus, Brazil is one of the most ravaged countries during the pandemic. Over 68,000 people have died and 1.7 million have been infected.

As ‘LGBTQ Nation’ reports, just a few days ago, the Brazilian president vetoed a law that required the government to provide drinking water, disinfectants and guarantee hospital beds for the population, an action that mostly harms indigenous people, who live in remote areas with little access to modern medical facilities.
