JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank Join Brunei Boycott

JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank have joined the boycott against Brunei-owned businesses, reports the Financial Times.

JPMorgan have forbidden their employees from booking into any Brunei-owned hotels. A senior manager at the financial services firm told FT the policy was quietly introduced a few weeks ago, but that they had “not said anything publicly.”

Similarly, Deutsche Bank announced April 4th that they would remove the Dorchester Collection hotel group from its list of suppliers.

Many celebrities have called for a total boycott of these hotels, with actor George Clooney leading the charge:“Every single time we stay at or take meetings at or dine at any of these nine hotels we are putting money directly into the pockets of men who choose to stone and whip to death their own citizens for being gay or accused of adultery.”
