Kansas Governor-Elect Pledges to Reinstate Anti-LGBT+ Discrimination Laws

Laura Kelly, the Democrat governor-elect for Kansas, has announced she will reinstate laws to protect LGBT+ people from discrimination.

“I am planning to actually have an executive order drafted before I take office,” Kelly said.

Previous anti-LGBT+ discrimination laws were rescinded in 2015 by the former governor, Sam Brownback.

Kelly won the election 47.8 percent to her opponent’s 43.3 percent.

“This week, Kansans sent a message loud and clear. They want their leaders to work together—despite political labels. That is exactly what I plan to do,” Kelly had said.
