LEGO 'Stonewall Tribute' under review for official release

A meticulously crafted LEGO tribute to the Stonewall National Monument, created by an amateur LEGO artist, is currently under review by the LEGO Group for potential official production.

The proposed set commemorates the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Stonewall National Monument and comprises approximately 3,750 pieces. It features detailed minifigure-scale recreations of significant LGBTQ landmarks in the Christopher Street area of New York City. These include the Stonewall Inn, the historic site of the 1969 Stonewall Riots that marked a pivotal moment in the LGBTQ rights movement; Christopher Street, a globally recognized symbol of gay Pride; and Christopher Park, complete with George Segal's Gay Liberation sculpture.

The set also includes 13 custom minifigures representing a diverse range of LGBTQ identities, according to Washington Blade. These include a non-binary drag queen, lesbian and gay couples, a transgender minifigure, and LEGO renditions of LGBTQ rights pioneers Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera.

The project has achieved over 10,000 supporters on the LEGO Ideas website, qualifying it for the official "review" stage. During this phase, a LEGO Review Board, consisting of designers, product managers, and other team members, will assess the submission to determine its viability as a commercially available LEGO set.

The creator, known online as Feacebricks, describes himself as an "amateur artist" who utilizes LEGO bricks to create minifigure-scale artworks promoting peace, love, respect, and LGBTQIA+ representation. His previous notable project includes the LEGO Ideas set "Charlie's Room," inspired by the LGBTQ graphic novel and Netflix series "Heartstopper."

If approved, the project will enter the development phase, where LEGO model designers will refine the product, develop packaging and instructions, create marketing materials, and prepare for production. The timeline for the LEGO Group's decision on the Stonewall set remains unspecified.
