London Pride Canceled
August 6, 2021London Pride has been canceled for the second year in a row following concerns about coronavirus.
The parade, which was due to go ahead on the 11th of September, was cancelled this morning after concerns about insurance and possible outbreaks.
London Pride, usually held in the summer, had been canceled outright in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. In 2021, it had been delayed to autumn because of government restrictions and worries about another wave. Now, it seems, the LGBTQ+ community will have to wait until 2022 to get back onto the streets and show their Pride.
Other Prides had been canceled, including Brighton, but many had hoped that London – one of the biggest Prides in the country – would go ahead. Manchester Pride recently came under fire for scrapping the free Pride Parade due to Covid concerns, despite keeping the £75-a-ticket Pride festival instead.
