Man brutally attacked outside a gay bar in Melbourne, Australia

A 36-year-old man in Melbourne has been attacked leaving a gay bar in late January. He was followed from Sicruit Bar by three men, called “a fucking faggot”, and was viciously attacked. The man, identified as Brandon, was left with a fractured skull, bruised ribs, and was unable to open one of his eyes for three weeks.

Victoria Police Detective Senior Constable Shane Flannery said the incident was “a homophobic attack on someone who was minding his own business” and asked for anyone with information to come forward.

Brandon has tried to keep in good spirits, telling The Age he hopes this won’t stop other gay men from going out, “I think more people should go out and enjoy life.”

Victorian police have said this was an isolated incident.
