October 1, 2025

For Beatrice, empowerment isn't a buzzword – it's the driving force behind her journey at ABB. From fostering a culture of inclusion to building strong connections across international markets, she brings courage and authenticity to everything she does. Discover how Beatrice turns values into action, and challenges into opportunities – for herself and for others.

Beatrice Roberti, Product Marketing Specialist, Italy

For Beatrice, empowerment is not a catchphrase – it’s a defining principle of her career at ABB. As a Product Marketing Specialist at ABB Italy, where she focuses on medium voltage apparatus for Asian markets, Beatrice has found not only a place to grow professionally but also a platform to align her personal values with her work.

From the moment she joined ABB three years ago, Beatrice was attracted by the global scope and the corporate values that the company lives by. “I feel strongly connected to ABB's core values – Courage, care, collaboration, and curiosity – as they’re my personal values, too these aren’t just corporate words,” she says. Working in an environment that shares them makes Beatrice feel fulfilled and aligned with who she is.

Beatrice's view of empowerment goes far beyond professional development. For her, it’s about self-awareness, self-trust, and the courage to act. “Empowerment is transforming the way you speak to yourself and others,” she explains. “It’s not about toxic positivity; it’s about believing you have the skills and the strength to face challenges. And when colleagues or even myself are struggling, I try to remind us: we can do this, together.”

As an active member of the local Employee resource groups (ERG), she wants to help her colleagues better understand the importance of Diversity and Inclusion dimensions and thus contribute to a more inclusive working environment. Whether through workshops, webinars, or sharing scientific data, she and her team members work to make inclusion tangible and practical, especially in ABB’s technical environment. “Change starts with data, but it grows through behavior,” she notes.

“It’s incredibly powerful to help people see why they are remarkable. That awareness can change everything”

Beatrice brings a practical and authentic perspective to inclusion. She encourages her colleagues to ask reflective questions – both to themselves and to others – and to speak up, even when it’s uncomfortable. “Language is powerful,” she says, recalling how a small change to gender-neutral language in emails became a moment to champion inclusion. “It might seem minor, but for someone, it could be the reason they feel they belong.”

Her passion for empowerment also extends beyond ABB. As a certified facilitator for the global #IAmRemarkable initiative, Beatrice helps others recognize their value and embrace self-promotion – especially those from underrepresented groups. “It’s incredibly powerful to help people see why they are remarkable. That awareness can change everything,” she says.

The multicultural nature of her team at ABB has also deeply influenced her. Working with colleagues from across the globe has given her a broader perspective and improved her ability to connect with international customers. “When you understand different viewpoints, you work better together – and you serve the world better, too.”

When asked to describe ABB in one word, Beatrice responds without hesitation: Opportunity. “Whether it’s a project, a new connection, or a chance to grow, ABB is full of opportunities. It’s up to us to recognize them and to empower ourselves and others to make the most of them.”
