Meghan Markle Guest Edits Special Issue of Vogue, Includes Feature on Laverne Cox

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has chosen to put 15 “trailblazing” women on the cover of a special edition of Vogue, instead of herself.

Markle was asked to help edit the September Issue of British Vogue and pushed to highlight 15 “trailblazing changemakers, united by their fearlessness in breaking barriers.”

She turned down including herself among these women as she thought it would be too boastful.

Those included are the transgender actress and campaigner Laverne Cox, climate change activist Greta Thunberg, the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, body positivity advocate Jameela Jamil, Boxer Ramla Ali, diversity advocate Sinead Burke, Royal Ballet dancer Francesca Hayward and author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

“Through this lens I hope you’ll feel the strength of the collective in the diverse selection of women chosen for the cover as well as the team of support I called upon within the issue to help bring this to light,” she said.

“I hope readers feel as inspired as I do by the forces for change they’ll find within these pages.”
