Michi Raymond’s Song ‘Roses’ Features in Award-Winning Spanish Film

Roses, a song written and performed by myGwork’s Business Development Director Michelle (Michi) Raymond, has been featured in the soundtrack of the award-winning short film La Cit@ (The D@te).

The romantic comedy is written and produced, by award-winning Spanish actor Itziar Castro, who is also renowned for speaking up about bullying, empowerment, feminism, diversity, non-normative bodies, and LGTBQ+ matters. In fact, La Cit@ is not only a LGBTQ+ rom com, where all the actors are from the LGBTQ+ community, but so is everyone who is involved behind the lens, including the artists featured in the short film’s soundtrack.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to have my song 'Roses' featured in a film that not only celebrates love in all its forms but also empowers an all-female cast and crew,” shared Raymond. “It's an honor to be part of a project that radiates love, LGBTQ+ diversity, and the magic of cinema all at once."
Castro’s rom com, which is based on real events, explores the reality of what dating is like, not only when you’re famous, but also when you belong to the LGBTQ+ community. La Cit@ enjoyed its world premiere on Monday, October 2, in Palacio de la Prensa in Madrid, Spain, and a week later was selected to be screened in Talavera de la Reina, at the 10th Pávez Awards Short Film Festival. It also received a “distinction from the ICAA for the promotion of gender equality, a stamp given to [the film] Barbie earlier this year,” confirmed Castro.
La Cit@ is Castro’s second short film as a director, after “La Soledad” (2021), and she hopes it will become a series as fans are keen to find out what happens next.
