Netflix’s Gay Jesus Film Called “A Criminal Offence” By Conservatives

December 24, 2019

A Netflix Christmas film in Brazil, titled ‘The First Temptation of Christ (A Primeira Tentação de Cristo) has “angered” conservatives of the region and they have launched a petition against the film. The petition has collected over 1,132,673 signatures, ‘LGBTQ Nation’ reports.

In the film, a gay Jesus is depicted who brings his boyfriend Orlando so he can meet his parents, Mary and Joseph, during Jesus’ 30th birthday celebration.

Later in the film, God reveals that he is actually Jesus’ father, not Joseph, and gives Jesus an ultimatum. Either live a happy life as a gay man with Orlando or he can fulfill his destiny and die for all of humanity's sins.

Many commenters on the petition have called the film blasphemous and offensive, while one called it “a criminal offense under Brazilian criminal law [as] the practice of discrimination and prejudice based on race, ethnicity, color, RELIGION or national origin is an offense.”
