A new poll from NBC and the Wall Street Journal has found that the majority of Americans are comfortable with a gay presidential candidate.
The poll found that 14 percent were enthusiastic and 54 percent were comfortable, which is 68 percent in total.
The numbers jump even higher for voters under the age of 35, with 75 percent saying that would be comfortable with a gay presidential candidate.
While 56 percent of voters above the age of 65 are also comfortable.
This survey comes while Pete Buttigieg, the openly gay presidential hopeful, climbs in the polls.
A poll from Emerson found Buttigieg at 11 percent in the key primary state, only behind Vice President Joe Biden on 25 percent and Senator Bernie Sanders on 24 percent.
