New Study Finds Majority of LGBT+ People Think Dating Apps Have Helped the Community

A new survey conducted by Tinder and released on the 50th anniversary of Pride has found that more than 80 percent of LGBT+ people believe dating apps are beneficial to the community.

Tinder surveyed 1,000 LGBT+ people from across the UK. They found that 46 percent of respondents said dating apps helped provide more diversity in who they could date, including people of other races and other cultures.

82 percent said there was less stigma attached to being LGBT+ than there was five years ago. 38 percent said they did not have to formally come out because being LGBT+ was so normalised.

Tinder also found that queer couples were more comfortable with public displays of affection: 67 percent said they would hug on a first date in public, 57 percent said they would hold hands, and 44 percent said they would kiss.
