Novartis sits at the intersection of cutting-edge medical science and digital technology, and it is hiring at scale: more than 1,100 live roles on myGwork, from TRD QA Head CMC in Basel to Senior Legal Counsel in Hyderabad, with openings across Austria, Slovenia, Belgium, the US, China and Australia.
One fact sets Novartis apart from most employers in its sector. It was the first global pharmaceutical company to support the United Nations Standards of Conduct for Business, the UN framework for tackling discrimination against LGBTI people. That is a public, external commitment rather than an internal statement — and it came with obligations.
The company has since been named a Stonewall Top Global Employer, receiving the Silver award for its work on LGBTQI+ inclusion. Its Pride Employee Resource Groups connect and support the global LGBTQI+ and ally community, providing safe spaces to share lived experiences.
Novartis publishes its colleagues’ stories rather than summarising them. Stephie, a colleague based in Switzerland, has written openly about realising in her late forties that she was transgender, signing up with a transgender clinic in Basel, and deciding she "did not want to live a double life" — coming out as transgender at work.
Anastacia Awad, Global Head of People Experience R&D, frames her own role directly: "I’m in a position where I can make change, I can influence, I can use my voice, I can help shift structure and mindset, and I want to do that."
