Ohio to welcome Mike Pence with huge LGBT+ dance party

Mike Pence is visiting Columbus, Ohio on June 16 for an event with America First Polices – this date also happens to coincide with Columbus LGBT+ Pride. The controversial Vice President has clashed with the LGBT+ community before, notably by supporting funding being drained from HIV\AIDS care to go instead to conversion therapy clinics.

The local LGBT+ community is planning on hosting a huge dance party, in celebration of Pride, right outside Pence’s hotel. “He’s not coming to us, so we need to come to him,” said performer Kelly Coate, “showing we’re Americans just like everyone else and we want equal, fair treatment.”

More than 600 people have already RSVP’d. Event organiser Jay Smith spoke to a local news station about the party: “I want this entire street over here filled with rainbow and dancing. That is what I’m hoping to see.”
