Oklahoma woman offers motherly love to same-sex couples on their wedding day

A Facebook post from a woman in Oklahoma has gone viral, NewNowNext reports. Sara Cunningham, 54, offers to give motherly love to same-sex couples who might not have it.

“If you need a mom to attend your same sex wedding because your biological mom won’t. Call me. I’m there. I’ll be your biggest fan. I’ll even bring the bubbles,” she writes on the post.

The post quickly gathered over a thousand comments and more than 8,000 shares. Cunningham, who is an ordained pastor and officiates same-sex weddings, told NBC News the post was written after a dress rehearsal for a lesbian wedding where one of the woman’s mothers had asked for “a heads-up” when they kissed so she could look away.

Cunningham added that she struggled at first when her son came out to her, but forced herself to re-evaluate her beliefs and values. She now runs Free Mom Hugs, an organisation that provides educational resources to schools, churches, and hospitals about the LGBT+ community.
