Pete Buttigieg, the openly gay Presidential hopeful, has climbed in the polls to third in the crucial state of Iowa.
A poll from Emerson found Buttigieg at 11 percent in the key primary state, only behindVice President Joe Biden on 25 percent and Senator Bernie Sanders on 24 percent.
The rise is particularly impressive when you take into account that Buttigieg was at 0 percent in January, and that he is currently ahead of more established politicians Senators Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker on 10 percent, 9 percent and 6 percent respectively.
Iowa is the first state to vote in the Presidential primary, which will take place in February 2020.
However, Buttigieg remains at 1 percent nationally.
