Organon at Montreal Pride: Connecting with the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community

In the summer of 2022, as COVID-19 restrictions began to ease, Pride celebrations were eagerly anticipated by 2SLGBTQIA+ communities worldwide. In Montreal, Pride Week takes place in mid-August, featuring a range of events that bring people together in celebration and solidarity. One of the highlights of each year is the Community Days event held in the heart of the Village on Sainte-Catherine Street East. Over two days, visitors can meet and connect with a variety of local organizations, businesses, clubs, and community groups that support and represent 2SLGBTQIA+ people across Montreal and Quebec.

At Organon, we are dedicated to fostering belonging and inclusion as part of our company culture and values. As a member of the Organon Pride Network, I was eager to find ways to strengthen connections with local 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and demonstrate Organon’s genuine support beyond the workplace.

During the event, one group that stood out was the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation. Their team, full of energy and warmth, was leading an inclusive awareness campaign that emphasized a vital message: breast cancer can affect anyone, regardless of sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Organon’s mission to help advance the health of women, their families, and their communities strongly aligned with the Foundation’s inclusive approach to health awareness. This shared purpose inspired Organon to support the Foundation’s participation in Community Days during Montreal Pride Week for the next two years.

The Foundation’s presence created an engaging space for education and connection. Their booth offered informational materials designed for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, interactive demonstrations on recognizing signs of breast cancer, hands-on learning tools, and fun mini quizzes to raise awareness. It was also a space for meaningful dialogue, reflection, and solidarity among community members and partner organizations.

Thanks to the support of Organon, the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation was able once again to participate in the Community days and continue its mission of raising awareness within 2ELGBTQIA+ communities.
