Paris Pride Hit with Record-Breaking Heatwave

The half a million parade marchers at Paris Pride were hit with a record-shattering heatwave over the weekend, reports NBC.

Temperatures reached 37C in the city, with the small town of Villevieille hitting 45.1C – the highest temperature recorded in France.

It was so hot parts of the asphalt along the Parade route in Paris melted.

“It’s hellishly hot but the atmosphere is wonderful,” said one marcher.

“Just because it’s really hot, it’s not that I shouldn’t come here. I’m here to show I’m supportive,” attender Nathan Dijoux told NBC.

“I lived in Chicago for five years and heat never stopped anybody; it doesn’t matter how hot it is,” added Michael Borunda.

Firefighters cooled off marchers with water along the route, while McDonalds offered free water.
