Parkfield School Says Protesters Claims About LGBT+ Lessons Are “Ridiculous”

The head of the Parkfield school at the centre of protests around LGBT-inclusive lessons has hit back at “ridiculous” claims, reports BirminghamLive.

Protestors have claimed the school used clay models to “show the children something of a sexual nature.”

“We certainly don’t do that,” Parkfield’s CEO Hazel Pulley said.

“It’s very clear that we would never, ever discuss sexual activity with very young children at all. It’s ridiculous.”

Pulley has said the ongoing protests have had a detrimental effect on teachers.

“It’s really upsetting. Some of the staff are becoming ill, they’re losing weight. Some staff really don’t want to come to school because sometimes they’re met—especially the teachers of young children—with parents accusing them of things that are just not happening,” she said.

The controversial lessons are part of the “No Outsiders” programme which aims to teach children about the Equality Act and the protections it ensures. The proposed lessons would teach children that there are different kinds of families, some with same-sex parents, and that it’s not okay to bully or discriminate against those people.

The Birmingham schools have predominantly Muslim families, they have claimed such lessons would go against their religious beliefs.
