Pete Buttigieg Has “No Plans” To Run For President In 2024

Pete Buttigieg created a lot of buzz with his presidential campaign in 2020, becoming the most popular and high-profile out gay politician in the U.S.A. Since then, Buttigieg has been hired by President Joe Biden to work as the Transportation Secretary during his administration.

Despite the fact that Biden can – and is expected – to run to get reelected in 2024, many voters in the Democratic Party fear that there’s a chance he might lose to a Republican opponent. There’s speculation that Donald Trump might run again for president, and new challengers like Ron DeSantis are making a splash.

As ‘Pride’ writes, these circumstances brought on the idea that certain politicians should challenge President Biden in 2024 to run as the presidential candidate for the Democratic Party. However, it doesn’t seem like Buttigieg is up to the task.

“I don’t have any plans to do any job besides the one I’ve got,” Buttigieg recently said following the two-year anniversary of his confirmation as Transportation Secretary (as reported by Politico). Buttigieg doubled down saying: “I love this job and I feel like we’re right in the middle of the action. I’m not planning on going anywhere because we’re smack in the middle of historic work.”

Given his recent remarks, one can assume that Buttigieg will support Biden’s reelection campaign in 2024 instead of running against him.

When a president is in office with the possibility of getting reelected, it is standard for other politicians within the same political party to coalesce behind that incumbent president. Some political pundits did raise the possibility that things would be different for Biden in 2024, but it appears that Buttigieg won’t run for president again until at least 2028.
