Petition to Cancel Scottish Pride Reaches 600 Signatures

A petition to ban a Pride march in Inverness, Scotland has reached nearly 600 signatures, reports the Scottish Sun.

Donald Morrison, an evangelical member of the Free Church of Scotland, started the petition in a effort to keep the town “child-friendly” he said.

“A lot of people are unhappy with the event on moral and religious grounds so we are protesting it on the strongest possible terms.”

Although he’s not homophobic, he assures. “It’s nothing against personal individuals who want to live their life that way,” he said. “There is no hate or loathing towards them, that is not why we are protesting it is strictly on moral grounds.

“This becomes evident especially in city centres when they thrust lewdness in the faces of men, women and children alike by frolicking unashamedly on rainbow-coloured floats making obscene gestures.”

A counter- petition has already sprung up in protest of Morrison’s proposed ban. It amassed over a thousand signatures in less than 24 hours.

“Inverness has no pride, no gay bars, no anything for the LGBT+ community this march means something to us and to have it taken away is just ridiculous! LOVE HAS NO GENDER! Love is unconditional and for 600+ people to make us and our community feel unwelcome and unwanted is heartbreaking!” the counter-petition reads.
