Police working with Spurs to identify homophobic fans

Tottenham Hotspur are collaborating with local authorities and stadium security to identify fans involved in “abhorrent homophobic chanting” during their 3-0 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The club stated, “This is simply unacceptable, hugely offensive and no way to show support for the team.” Spurs will work closely with the police and stewards to identify anyone participating in or starting the chants, promising to impose the strictest measures under their Sanctions and Banning Policy.

Tottenham encouraged Premier League attendees to confidentially report any incidents to the club, according to ‘Reuters’. The club also mentioned, “We shall be continuing our work with our LGBTQ+ supporters' association, Proud Lilywhites, to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans on matchdays.”

They emphasised that, “We all have a responsibility to act as ambassadors of Tottenham Hotspur and discrimination of any kind has no place at our Club.”
