Polish City Proceeds with First Ever Pride Despite Protests

The Polish city of Lublin went ahead with its first ever Pride parade despite widespread protests, Poland in English reports.

About 1500 people took part in the march while around 200 people showed up to protest by throwing bottles, bricks, and stones at the marchers. After less than an hour of marching the police had to become involved to try and remove the protestors. They were eventually forced to use tear gas and water cannons after they refused to move.

“We have arrested several people but I am sure that number will increase,’said a police spokesperson.

“During the gathering, we provided security for the participants despite the numerous illegal actions of their opponents.”
