Pride Wide Launched to Drive Much-Needed Change Worldwide for the LGBTQ+ Community

September 26, 2023

Pride Wide, a new global LGBTQ+ charity specializing in communication, has been launched. It's the first international LGBTQ+ charity specializing in communication to share stories to develop skills, and raise LGBTQ+ voices worldwide to drive much-needed change for the queer community.

The new charity not only aims to give back the LGBTQ+ community their voice, but also ensure they are free, equal, visible, included, healthy and happy, wherever they are in the world. Pride Wide was recently launched by its founders Tris Reid-Smith and Scott Nunn at an event hosted by London’s St Ermin’s Hotel, where the brand concept was revealed to help get Pride Wide up and running.

This is a critical moment. Anti-LGBTQI+ forces are eroding our rights daily. They have harnessed a hostile media. They have swamped social media. Our community is struggling to respond,” stated Tris, at the recent launch event. “We urgently need to tell better stories. Until we tell better stories, we’ll keep losing. Once we tell better stories, we’ll start winning again. We need to unlock the opportunities of digital communications. We need to bring LGBTQI+ people together to win the hearts and minds of our natural allies.”

The charity will investigate and amplify the stories that will drive change, as well as develop communications skills in other parts of the world, so that others in the LGBTQ+ community can share their stories and experiences. The charity’s founders are now seeking seed funding that will turn Pride Wide from a beautiful idea and an amazing strategy into a working charity, delivering urgent help to the LGBTQ+ front line.

The charity now needs to secure seed funding for around £175,000 to achieve its first three year target goals (2024 to 2026). Anyone interested in becoming a founder and helping the charity can donate through the link here.

Pride Wide is also carrying out its first survey, funded by Barefoot, on the experiences of LGBTQ+ people holding hands in public. By taking part, LGBTQ+ participants will help Pride Wide understand what gestures like hand holding means to the community and what issues LGBTQ+ people face in public spaces. “The results will be used to encourage inclusivity and create support for holding hands and, hopefully spread a little joy,” stated the survey organizers.
