Rose McGowan Apologises to Trans Community

January 22, 2019

Actress-turned-activist Rose McGowan has apologised to the trans community for previous comments, reports Eyewitness News.

McGowan came under scrutiny from the LGBT+ community when she shouted at a trans woman at a Q&A promoting her book ‘Brave’ at a Barnes in Noble in New York, in February of last year.

The trans woman was questioning comments McGowan made on RuPaul’s podcast 'What’s the Tee?' In July of 2017, where McGowan said trans woman could not relate tocisgender women’s experience of “living in this world as a woman.”

“I would like to say I’m sorry,” McGowan said.

“I didn’t have the correct language…It’s just been a learning process and evolution. I’m here to say to people that are scared of trans-ness, we’re all women, we’re just different kinds of women and different kinds of men.

“There’s a huge spectrum to be had in that. And I think that’s a really beautiful thing.”
