RuPaul confirms fate of Drag Race US and UK

RuPaul has shared insights about the future of acclaimed series, Drag Race, and its British version.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, where he talked about his new memoir, The House of Hidden Meanings, the renowned drag performer disclosed that he had “just finished” filming “a couple seasons” of Drag Race UK “last week”.

According to ‘Gay Times’, RuPaul, likely referring to season seven of Drag Race UK and season three of UK vs the World, added: “And then, in a couple of weeks, I start [filming] season 18 in the US.”

Since 2009, RuPaul has hosted 40 seasons of Drag Race, including the main series (17), All Stars (9), Drag Race UK (6), Drag Race UK vs the World (2), Drag Race Down Under (3), Secret Celebrity Drag Race (2), and Global All Stars (1).

The artist behind the hit “Blame It On The Edit” assured that she still has a “lot of fun” working on the franchise, and when questioned about retiring, she humorously stated, “Here’s the thing about show business – you don’t walk away from a job, they escort you off the set.”

RuPaul has secured 14 Primetime Emmy Awards for his contributions to Drag Race, including eight in a row for ‘Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program,’ marking him as the most-awarded person of colour in Emmy history.

Besides the series mentioned earlier, Drag Race has expanded to nations such as Thailand, Canada, Holland, Spain, Italy, France, the Philippines, Belgium, Sweden, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany, with a South African edition slated for later this year.

Currently, Drag Race season 17 is being broadcast in the US on MTV and internationally on WOW Presents Plus.
