Salvation Army Staff Warned Not to Talk About LGBT+ Issues

The Salvation Army has issued guidelines to its staff, advising them to stay away from “hot topic issues like LGBTQ Marriage,” according to Fox News.

The guidelines explain this is because of an “increased number of complaints regarding comments made on social media by Salvation Army officers and staff.”

It warns that controversy is a “threat to our reputation, our fundraising efforts, and ultimately our ability to serve people in need.”

The Salvation Army is no stranger to controversies regarding the LGBT+ community. In the past, they have refused to hire any gay or lesbian officers while a branch in New York wouldn’t take in homeless transgendered people.

Just a few years ago they had a statement on their website condemning homosexuality: “Scripture opposes homosexual practises by direct comment and also by clearly implied disapproval. The Bible treats such practices as self-evidently abnormal… Attempts to establish or promote such relationships as viable alternatives heterosexually-based family life do not conform to God’s will for society.”
