Southampton chosen to host UK Pride 2027

Southampton has been selected to host UK Pride in 2027, marking a significant milestone for the city’s LGBTQ+ community and its allies.

The national celebration, awarded each year by the Board of Trustees at the UK Pride Organisers Network to a different host city, will take place in Southampton over the weekend of 28–29 August 2027. The event will be free to attend and is expected to include a major UK Pride march through the city centre, alongside performances from drag artists, musicians and other entertainers.

Portsmouth hosted UK Pride last year, while Newport in South Wales is due to hold the 2025 event in September, as the designation continues to move around the UK to highlight and uplift local LGBTQ+ communities.

Organisers in Southampton say planning is already under way for what is expected to be the largest Pride celebration the city has ever seen, BBC reports.

“Being chosen to host UK Pride 2027 is an incredible honour for Southampton and for everyone who has helped build Pride here over the past decade,” said Jay Edwards-Bannon, marketing and content manager at Southampton Pride Trust. “We are committed to creating an inclusive, visible and empowering celebration for LGBTQ+ people from across the country.”

Southampton’s own annual Pride, based around Guildhall Square each August, attracted more than 25,000 attendees last year. This summer’s event, scheduled for 29–30 August, will mark its 10th anniversary, setting the stage for an expanded national celebration two years later.
