Sprinter Noah Lyles wins Olympic gold with painted nails

27-year-old track and field star Noah Lyles has made history by winning one of the closest men’s 100-meter finals ever in the Olympics — all while sporting painted nails and beaded hair.

On Sunday night at the Stade de France, Lyles was crowned the world’s fastest man during the men’s 100-meter final. Following a delayed start, the eight competitors took off, culminating in a photo finish.

According to ‘Out’, Lyles emerged victorious with a time of 9.79 seconds, narrowly beating Kishane Thompson, who also clocked in at 9.79 seconds but finished five-thousandths of a second behind Lyles. American runner Fred Kerley secured the bronze with a time of 9.81 seconds.

This event was among the most thrilling of this year's Olympics and was heavily anticipated. The 100-meter sprint is always a highlight at the Olympics, but this year, Lyles had been generating excitement with his unique style, including beaded hair and painted fingernails, confident demeanor, and bold predictions.
