Stand for inclusion: Celebrating UK Black History Month at Moody's

November 4, 2024

This October we’re celebrating UK Black History Month, an opportunity to live our value of championing diverse perspectives, while also amplifying Black voices and reinforcing our commitment to inclusion. Our EMEA Black Impact Business Resource Group (BRG) has organized a series of engaging events, such as A Fireside Chat: Leading with Heart, designed to educate, celebrate cultural heritage, and spark meaningful conversations about race and identity.

Florence Henderson, AVP – Inclusion, explores what it means to build a culture where our colleagues feel heard and accepted year-round:

We celebrate all cultures here at Moody’s. We have, among others, our Multicultural BRG, our Black Impact BRG, our Women’s, our Pride, our Mental Health BRG. We are able to celebrate culturally no matter what culture means to you.

For me as a black woman at Moody’s I can celebrate Black History Month but I can celebrate being a black woman at any point in time.

We’re also thrilled to share that we were a proud sponsor of UK Black Business Week | UK Black Business Show. By offering diverse professionals a deeper look at our culture and values, we can expand the perspectives and experiences that make up Team Moody’s.

Alexander Trusty, Global Talent & Inclusion Specialist, explains why these conversations matter:

I’m really proud to say that we were part of UK Black Business week. The reason why we do this is to support our employees, but also to learn, to really try and expand our talent pool as well. We really want to engage with the markets, with the cultures and with the communities that we are working in. So it really is important to be part of events such as this.”
