Tessa Thompson Wants Valkyrie to be More Overtly Bisexual in Next Avengers Film

Talking with Variety at the premiere for Avengers: Endgame, Tessa Thompson who plays Valkyrie said it was her intention to play the character as bisexual.

“In the canon, yeah, she is bisexual,” Thompsons said. “You see her with both women and men, so that was my intention in playing her.”

Thompson added they never really got a chance to explore her character’s sexuality because romance isn’t “at the forefront” of Marvel films.

When asked who she would like to see Valkyrie in a relationship with she joked why not a polyamorous relationship with Thor and Captain Marvel.

“I think a communal spoon—just a spoon between friends that are hardworking—it could be polyamorous. Why not? A throuple, with Thor as the baby spoon,” she said.

She also added that we could expect more LGBT+ characters: “I think that’s coming in the next phase.”
