Texas Judge Throws Out Case Against Drag Queen Story Hour

A Texan judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought against the Drag Queen Story Hour initiative that takes place across many public libraries in the country, reports Pride.com.

The initiative involves various drag queens reading books to children at public libraries, it’s meant to encourage literacy and tolerance.

“In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real,” a spokesperson for Story Hour said.

A group of Christian activists called “Christ Followers” brought the lawsuit against Story Hour, claiming they infringed upon their religious rights and were indoctrinating children into becoming LGBT+.

The judge threw the case out, citing a failure to show just how their rights were being infringed upon. The judge also noted it was impossible for them to be harmed by the event if they chose not to go to it. He added the lawsuit appeared to simply be an attempt to promote their religious rhetoric and halt the advancement of LGBT+ rights.
