Melissa Brette, Director of Human Resources at Park Hyatt London River Thames, Head of Networking for HyPride EAME (diversity business resource group).

Being an ally of the non-binary community is vital for me, as my closest family member, my sibling, is non-binary. I have always been supportive of the trans community, but being the sister of a non-binary person has opened my eyes even more to the gender polarization in our society, the violence it creates, and the urgent need to educate about gender constructs, which benefits all humans.
For me, being an ally means seizing opportunities to educate others and challenging gender norms to create spaces where the non-binary community feels included and, most importantly, safe.
I am very grateful to work for a company that allows me to turn my personal values into concrete achievements. This year, for example, I have contributed to the writing of a Transitioning guideline for the EAME region, providing support to the trans community within our organization and helping all colleagues understand how we can all be allies.
