There Are Currently Over 200 Anti-LGBT+ Bills Being Filed Across The U.S.

The Equality Foundation has shared some alarming information, revealing that there are currently 226 anti-LGBT+ bills filed in state legislatures in the United States.

Many of the bills are targeting the trans community and others are focused on allowing anti-LGBT+ discrimination in service areas.

According to ‘Gay Times’, the director of advocacy and civil engagement for The Equality Foundation David Topping, said that since the Supreme Court judgment that legalised same-sex marriage, there had been a “huge rash of anti-LGBTQ legislation.”

He added that “It feels like every state Legislature, every year, is trying to push some kind of anti-LGBTQ agenda.”

Jenny Pizer, the law and policy director at Lambda Legal, said: “Numbers are only one measure of how intense or threatening one legislative session might be.”

Freedom for All Americans claim that out of the 44 anti-LGBT+ bills introduced since November, 42 are targeting the trans community.
