There Are Now More Gay People in the UK Than Ever Before

November 17, 2018

A new survey from euroClinix has found there are now more LGB (lesbian, gay and bisexual) people in the UK than ever more, the Mirror reports.

The study found that 13 percent of British people identified as LGB, which would mean there are around nine million gay and bisexual people in the UK.

The number of people who identified as heterosexual dropped from 93 percent in 2016 to 87 percent now.

“Those aged between 18-24 were by far the most likely to say they were gay, lesbian or bisexual—24 percent of them did—a proportion that steadily declines as you inch up the age scale,” said a spokesperson for euroClinix.

“Maybe the survey reveals the extent to which taboos persist for older people and those living in more conservative parts of the country, so individuals remain reluctant to tell the truth.”
