Preparation is key to showcasing your fit for the role. We also want to make our candidates feel comfortable - Rapport is a Disability Confident Employer, so please feel free to inform us if you require any accommodations for your interview or in the workplace.

So, what can you do to prepare for your interview?

1. Research Rapport

Understand our mission and values: Familiarise yourself with Rapport’s mission and values. This knowledge will help you align your answers and demonstrate your genuine interest:

Mission: We believe that every guest experience should be unique.

  • Create Rapport: This value emphasises the importance of building strong relationships and fostering open communications. It encourages collaboration and understanding among team members and key stakeholders.
  • Be Brilliant: This reflects a commitment to excellence and high standards. It encourages individuals to showcase their talents and strive for outstanding performance.
  • Innovative Spirit: This value promotes creativity and willingness to embrace new ideas and approaches. It encourages our ambassadors to think outside the box and seek innovative solutions.
  • Walk Tall: This embodies confidence and integrity. It encourages individuals to take pride in their work and conduct themselves with professionalism and respect.
  • Stronger Together: This highlights the power of teamwork and collaboration. It emphasises that collective effort leads to greater success and strengthens rapport overall.

2. Practice your responses

  • Do your homework on the job role: Have a look at the information provided about the role. What are you familiar with and which elements will pose a challenge for you? How will you go about handling those challenges and which elements would you identify as areas where you need to learn a lot? It is better to do your own analysis of strengths and opportunities for development – find your answers before going into the interview.
  • Use STAR technique: Structure your answers to behavioural questions using the Situation, Task, Action, Result method. Prepare in-depth examples that illustrate your relevant skills and experiences. This will help bring your experience to life during the interview.
  • Know your “why Rapport” answer: You’ve reached that far in the recruitment process and we would like to know what motivated you to explore a new opportunity and your knowledge/preparation about us.
  • Be yourself: While it’s important to be prepared, it’s also vital that you don’t come across scripted in your responses. Rapport has inclusive culture and we are looking for Ambassadors who can connect and collaborate effectively.

3. Body language matters

Non-verbal cues: Give good eye contact where possible, offer a firm handshake, and practice good posture and open body language where possible.

4. Interview Preparation Tips

  • Rehearse: Practice common interview questions with a friend or family member. They can help you to prepare and be a good sounding board to build confidence.
  • Dress professionally: Choose attire that is appropriate for the company culture, whether virtual or in-person. Make sure you feel comfortable, but also are interview ready in appropriate attire.

Virtual Interviews:

  • Equipment: Make sure you have access to the necessary links, tools, technology, and applications installed. Test your camera and microphone are working. Our tip is to do a test call with someone to ensure your tech is working in advance of the interview.
  • Attendance confirmation: Reconfirm the interview – this shows you are organised and keen, which can’t be a bad thing.
  • Find a Quiet Spot and Positioning of Device: Choose a distraction-free environment. Consider the background—avoid clutter and ensure good lighting. If you are joining from your mobile/tablet, position it on a stable surface – the last thing you want is to make your interviewer feel dizzy from moving your device.
  • Dress to Impress: Even in a virtual setting, wear professional attire.
  • Be Punctual: Log in early to test your equipment and ensure a smooth start.

In-Person Interviews:

  • Location: Work out how will you get to the location in advance. Ensure you have a plan B in case that bus does not turn up, or the tube line is closed, for example.
  • Interviewer: Check who you have an interview with and make a note of their name and contact details in case things go wrong with your commute. Reconfirm the interview – this shows you are organised and keen, which can’t be a bad thing.
  • Bring Supplies: Carry a notepad and pen for taking notes. This shows you’re engaged and organised. You may also want to write your questions down, so you don’t forget them.
  • Active Listening: Be mindful of your body language and demonstrate that you are attentively listening to the interviewer, where possible.

5. Prepare Thoughtful Questions:

Prepare insightful questions to ask at the end of the interview. This demonstrates your interest in the role and helps you evaluate if the company is a good fit for you. Consider asking about:

  • Team dynamics and company culture.
  • Opportunities for growth and development.
  • Specific projects or challenges the team is currently facing.

6. Post-Interview Etiquette

After the interview, a “thank you” email can leave a lasting impression.

Tips for Follow-Up:

  • Timeliness: Send your “Thank you” email within 24 hours of the interview.
  • Personalisation: Reference specific topics discussed during the interview to make your message memorable.
