Trailer drops for new TV show ‘Pose’ – features the most trans characters in history

The new television from Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Feud, Glee, American Crime Story, etc) has already made American TV history by featuring the most trans characters and most LGBT+ characters in a show ever broadcast. The musical series is set in the 1980s and follows the world of ball culture and the “rise of luxury Trump-era universe”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series features five trans actors who will be series regulars: MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross. As well as Evan Peters, Kate Mara, James Van Der Beek, and Billy Porter.

“Along with being a dance musical and an affirming look at American life in the 1980s, I’m so proud that Pose and FX have made history right from the beginning by featuring the most trans series regular actors ever in an American television production,” Murphy said in a statement. “Additionally, the first season of Pose will feature 50-plus LGBTQ characters—a record in American television history.”

The series was shot on location in New York City at iconic gay bars and venues. Pose will premiere in June, to mark the start of LGBT+ Pride Month.
