Trans Awareness Month: Embracing Authenticity panel recap

This year's Trans Awareness Month panel with myGwork provided a powerful conversation centered on debunking misconceptions and promoting societal change. Each panelist shared their personal journeys, insights into ongoing challenges, and actionable ways that individuals and organizations can support the trans and non-binary communities.

Emma Cusdin from Global Butterflies opened the session by highlighting the importance of visibility and allyship. She emphasized the importance of collective effort: "Every step we take in awareness helps build a more inclusive society." Her words remind us that awareness is an ongoing journey vital for societal progress.

Stephie Elms from Novartis reflected on her personal journey, stating, "My journey was late, but embracing my authenticity has truly transformed my life." The story she candidly expresses in the panel delved into the notion that it's never too late to embrace who you are.

Isobel Heikkinen from Booking.com recounted her personal history and the impact her experiences have had on her to this day, stating "Seeing trans people in everyday roles helps normalize us and challenge stereotypes." She went on to describe the ways in which representation plays a crucial role in reducing societal misconceptions.

Dimitra Pantazi from Capco shared their journey too, emphasizing the importance of self-exploration, no matter what age. They also pointed out how simple acts can make a difference: "Support often comes down to small, respectful acts - those can make a huge difference." These small gestures encourage real inclusion and a continued understanding.

Bear Hicks of Thermo Fisher Scientific offered advice for ongoing self-discovery: "Trust your instincts - your journey is lifelong, and you are never alone." Encouraging self-trust and community as aspects of identity to hold onto on in every individual journey.
