Univision TV Presenter Comes Out Live on Air

Morning show presenter Luis Sandoval has come out live on air on National Coming Out Day, reports El Diario.

The presenter says he was moved into action after reporting on Jamel Myles’death, the nine-year-old child who committed suicide after being bullied for being gay.

“Imagine a mother’s pain, losing your nine-year-old son and then I started to see people criticizing the lady, ‘this is your fault, you exposed your son to these things, you deserve it’,” he said, adding that he hopes his public coming out will help others who are struggling with their sexuality.

“I felt that I needed to come to talk with more people who feel trapped, who do not know what is happening to them.”

“I am a full person, a respected person. I do not live in the closet, my family knows it,” he said while fighting back tears. “I have a partner that I am happy with and if I cry it is because this moment is very emotional for me.”

Afterwards, Sandoval received an avalanche of support online, later posting on Instagram that “the last 24 hours of my life have been spectacular.”
