What ABB's 2025 Report Says About the Company Behind the Numbers

Measurable progress on representation. Women now hold 22.6% of senior management positions at ABB. The company tracks and publicly reports this figure as part of a broader commitment to diversity, a level of transparency that signals real accountability, not just intention.
Sustainability is a core commitment. ABB reported 134 kt CO₂e in direct and indirect emissions for the year, and "preserving resources" stands alongside financial performance as one of its four long-term goals. This aligns with concrete initiatives already underway, circular design, recycling, and extending the working life of industrial equipment, showing that sustainability runs through the business rather than sitting apart from it.
Investment in people and structure. CEO Morten Wierod attributed the company's strong results to having the right team and the right operating model. Chairman Peter Voser pointed to ABB's "local-for-local" strategy, building teams and production close to where customers operate, which translates into genuine investment in local talent and decision-making across the regions where ABB is present.
Continued investment in the future. ABB committed $1.3 billion to R&D this year, in support of its stated goal of helping industries become "leaner and cleaner." This suggests that sustainability isn't treated as separate from business strategy, but as central to it.
Publishing diversity and emissions figures alongside financial results isn't a requirement; it's a choice, one that reflects a company that holds itself accountable on more than just financial performance.
