New York: Coney Island Mermaid Parade

What is it? Thousands of New Yorkers gather every year to Surf Avenue to watch King Neptune and Queen Mermaid lead a procession of glittery semi-nude marchers in nautical attire. This year’s Queen Mermaid is Amanda Palmer and her husband Neil Gaiman is King Neptune.

When is it? Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1pm.

London: Taste of London

What is it? A sprawling restaurant festival in Regent’s Park, filled with a selection of food from over 40 up-and-coming restaurants, as well as old favourites. Restaurants already confirmed include El Pastor, Smoke & Salt, Salon, Barrafina, Hoppers and Bao with appearances by famous chefs Will Bowlby, Surender Mohan and Pip Lacey.

Singapore: Singapore Ink Show

What is it? The largest gathering of international tattoo artists in Asia. Whatever kind of tattoo art you’re into – traditional, realism, tribal, blackwork, watercolour – it’ll be there. The show will feature such artists as Nikko Hurtado, Victor Chil and Gabe Shum. If you want to get a tattoo yourself you’ll need to make an advanced booking.
