Active Sussex are delighted to announce two-time Paratriathlon World Champion, Steve Judge, Chair of BLAGSS (Brighton’s LGBT Sports Society), Viv Woodcock-Downey, nad Chief Executive of Wave Leisure, Duncan Kerr, as key note speakers at the Active Sussex Conference 2018.

Following a near fatal car accident resulting in both legs being crushed Steve was told that he may never walk again. Through setting goals and working towards them he was able to achieve through his rehabilitation and then onwards in sport to earn the title ‘Champion of the World’. Now as an entrepreneur Steve runs his own business as an International Speaker with his ongoing principles to help people, inspire others and motivate many. His keynote speech, 'Feeding the Need to Succeed', will undoubtedly leave delegates ready to become champions themselves.

Viv previously worked in Human Resources and Environmental Services, as well as running her own successful business for 15 years working across the public sector. Now retired, she has thrown herself into a range of voluntary positions, and is currently Chair of BLAGSS and on the board of the Federation of Gay Games. In 2016 she won the BBC South East Unsung Hero Award 2016, for her work advocating LGBT Sport and physical activity issues in Sussex.

Duncan has enjoyed a career in sports development since completing a BA ‘Sport in the Community’ degree at university. Between 2000 and 2014, he led the University of Reading' sports department, Gosling Sports Park in Welwyn Garden City and, Welsh leisure trust, Celtic Community Leisure, before moving into his current role as Chief Executive of Wave Leisure. Duncan will be sharing his experiences with us, and looking at how that is delivered through Wave Leisure's strategy locally.

As well as morning keynote sessions, there will also be hot topic workshops in the afternoon and networking opportunities throughout the day. A very special guest speaker will also be announced at the Conference for the Sussex Sports Awards 2018.
