Please join Spectrum on 12 September, 6:30PM for the inaugural event of the new LGBTQ+ Alumni & Students Network for Brasenose College, University of Oxford. The evening will begin with a panel discussed chaired by Brasenose College Principal John Bowers QC, followed by networking and a drinks reception. The topic to be discussed by our panel will be “Coming Out Through the Ages” and will highlight the astonishing variety of experiences faced by LGBTQ+ people in this incredibly personal event. We will also be re lauching our bivisibility guide "What's B in LGBT" on the day.

Spectrum Client Network

This event will launch what we hope to become an active platform for LGBTQ+ discussion at Brasenose college as part of our commitment to our Spectrum Client Network. So far, we’ve linked up more than 25 companies with contacts across Barclays International’s global footprint - and our relationships with organisations like Disney, Marks & Spencer & Oxford University have flourished as a result of this new approach to client conversations. We build these unique relationships by sharing our learning and experience on Diversity, mentoring clients and forming close Diversity partnerships with them.

Our Panel

Sue Baines

Sue Baines is a Director, UK Debit Cards, and co-chair of the Barclays Spectrum network. Sue won the award for Barclays Woman of the Year in 2017 and has tirelessly championed the importance of respecting people from diverse backgrounds, and promoting diversity as an investment in talent that benefits individuals, companies and society. Sue was also named LGBT+ Inspirational Leader at the British LGBT Awards 2017.

Tim Ramsey

Tim founded Just Like Us, an award-winning non-profit that empowers young people to champion LGBT+ equality at school and work. Over the last three years, Just Like Us has grown into a leading LGBT+ youth charity, running programmes that have involved over 600,000 young people in activities tackling homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.

Radhika Piramal

Radhika Piramal is the Vice Chairperson of VIP Industries Ltd., India’s #1 Luggage Company, since April 2017. Radhika was recognized in Economic Times 2015 India’s 40 under 40 Business Leaders, in CNBC-TV18’s Award for Young Business Woman 2016 and in Business Today’s 2015, 2016 and 2017 Top 25 Powerful Women in India. She has a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Brasenose College, University of Oxford (2000) and an MBA from the Harvard Business School (2006). Radhika Piramal is India’s only openly lesbian CEO. She is married and she and her wife divide their time between Mumbai and London.

Leonard Grant

Leonard read Chemistry at Brasenose before half-heartedly following several careers, without ever catching up with any of them. Eventually, Leonard settled in the field of education. He is part of a small team that designed and delivers an international distance learning course in accreditation in medicine, he gives careers talks and guidance to university applicants and he will, at the least provocation, teach maths.

Duncan Campbell

Duncan is a founding member of Stonewall- the LGBT equality and rights campaign which was launched at the difficult time when the community was dealing with the twin threats of the HIV epidemic and the homophobia that was enacted as Section 28 of the Local Government Act. This year is the 30th anniversary of those times. Since that time, Stonewall has been part of the UK's social progress and societal change at a rate and with an effectiveness that has far exceeded what its founding members then dared to hope.
